In September 2009, Ms. Diaz attended the 62nd Annual United Nations NGO/DPI Conference in Mexico City, Mexico. There she witnessed Hiroshima Mayor Akiba give an inspiring speech regarding abolishing nuclear weapons and reminding us of the bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Japan. That speech inspired this work titled "Cosmos." In May of 2010, Mayors worldwide and other guests attended the World Harmony Reception at the Dwyer Cultural Center in NYC. "Cosmos" was the event's centerpiece, and reproductions were presented to Hiroshima Mayor Akiba and Nagasaki Mayor Taue, honoring them for their commitment to abolishing nuclear weapons.
